Born and raised in Minneapolis, Jim Bartell’s foray into music started with drums and later guitar and piano, but culminated with a deep-seated fascination with production. The collection of songs on Bartell’s debut album in 2013 and follow up E.P. in August 2015  are deliberate, mature, and cohesive. Bartell combines a subtle and nostalgic, singer-songwriter sensibility with strong electric pop stylings, producing a surprisingly contemporary sound.
